Malekai's Baby Blessing

The Sunday after Thanksgiving we gave Malekai a baby blessing. Andrew did a great job. The blessing was beautiful. I did laugh at him a little bit because by the time he sat back down by me on the bench he was drenched. It looked like he just got out of the shower. He said it was hot in the circle but I think he was nervous!

I cooked Thanksgiving dinner this year for the first time ever!! I have to brag a little becuase it turned out a lot better than I ever expected. I only forgot the cranberries which turned out okay becuase nobody really liked them anyway, at least that's what they said! To keep the tradition alive, we set up the Christmas tree on Friday. Aylee was quite the helper! She put all the ornaments on two branches. When we told her to spread them out she said "Okay..I am".

Thanksgiving

I love how Thanksgiving time always helps you to recognize all your blessings. I am so grateful for my family and friends. I am grateful for the gospel and the doctorines that get me through life, especially the rough times. I love being a mom and am so thankful that I can stay home with my children to play with them, teach them, and watch them grow. I have gratitude towards my husband for all his support and love he shows me even when I don't really deserve it! I love the neighborhood I live in and feel especially blessed to be able to be here.

The Aftermath

I finally feel like I am getting into some sort of routine and stable lifestyle with two kids now. It's about time right? It did take a while for me to get used to an extra kid but now I couldn't ask for anything else. It has been so much fun having a baby in our house and watching Aylee interact and take on small responsiblities to help out. It has been good for our whole family and brought us closer together. I am really thankful for the health of both of my darling kids and wonderful husband.

Malekai's Changes

Doesn't he already look mischeivious? He really has changed so much in the last month. It's amazing how fast little baby's grow up. He'll be two months in a week. Time sure is flying by. Malekai really is such a blessing in our lives. His spirit he brings to our home lifts us and reminds us to be grateful for our blessings.

Aylee's Got Attitude

Aylee's sassy attitude keeps getting bigger and better! I might really hate this when she's a teen!

Halloween

Halloween was such a blast this year. I stayed in the general area of my house but did wander between neighbors homes to see thier creative pumpkin carvings and haunted houses. Aylee dressed up as a cheerleader and loved every minute of it. She went around the neighborhood with a couple of her friends from St. George. She only got scared once and went screaming into the house but seemed to get over it pretty quick! Malekai was a pea in a pod and Andrew and I were too lame to dress up. Oh well, there's always next year!

Big Sis!

Aylee is still getting used to being the big sister. She has occasional meltdowns (as do I!) which I suppose is normal but for the most part she is really good with Malekai. She tries to make him smile all the time because she doesn't really understand that he can't smile right now. I felt bad the other day when Malekai was crying and she burst into tears and said, I don't want him to cry anymore mom! I think she gets frustrated by his crying sometimes but mostly she just doesn't like to have him upset!

Malekai is here!!

As most of you already know, Andrew, Aylee and I are delighted to welcome the newest member of our family into our lives. Malekai David Stevens was born October 4, 2008. He weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and was 19 inches long. So far he has been a wonderful baby. I am so grateful to all my good friends and neighbors that have been so selfless and willing to help me out (especially when I got sick with the flu. You know who you are!) It's so crazy having a new baby in our home. It changes everything. Although I'm still trying to put life back in order, which sometimes gets frustrating because I want things to get back to normal faster than its happening, I am also grateful for any quiet time I get to sit with Malekai and enjoy his spirit.

On a different note, my brother and sister in law are pregnant with thier second child. I am so excited for them. This will be grandchild number six for my parents...man they're getting old! I guess that makes me old also!

Well, time to feed the little rascal so this will have to do for now!

I'm a blogger!!!

So I know blogging is old news to most everybody except me...and my neighbor..but it's about time I jump on the bandwagon. I'll probably update this thing once every other month but who knows, maybe I'll turn into a blogging expert. Only time will tell!
